The Baby Moves!!

I felt the baby move for the first time on December 19th! Russ and I were on our way back from Christmas shopping. We were talking and listening to "I Wanna Be a Cowboy" by Kid Rock. I guess that the baby really liked the song, he kept kicking or whatever he was doing over and over. It felt like butterflies in my stomach. I was really excited. The last few days I have been able to feel him moving every couple of hours.

Lights at Temple Square

We went with our friends, Blake and Becky last Monday to see the lights on temple square. It was beautiful!

It's a Boy!

I am 16 weeks along, and my doctor wouldn't let me have the ultrasound until 20 weeks. One of my friends, Merilee Pack, is an ultrasound tech, so she offered to do one for me. We went in Monday night. Merilee spent about an hour with us. We found out that this baby is definitely a boy! We were able to see the baby's fingers and toes. My favorite part was when he was sucking his thumb. Russell is beaming... on the way there, he said that he didn't have a preference whether it was a boy or a girl, but on the way home he admitted that he really wanted a boy. Merilee said that everything is looking good; the baby is growing right on schedule. He is just over 5 inches long and about 5 ounces so far... we've got a way to go!

Update

We are pregnant! Things have been really crazy over the last 8 weeks. We were supposed to go on a cruise for Russell's work, but the night before we were supposed to leave, I started having a lot of pain in my stomach. We had just found out that we were pregnant a few days before. The pain got to the point that I was in tears, and I was really scared. We went to the emergency room. They did a bunch of tests, and thought that my pregnancy might be eptopic, so they told us not to go on the cruise. The next two weeks brought lots of doctors appointments and ultrasounds. We were so excited to finally find out that everything was okay. They figured that all of the pain was from a ruptured cyst, but it wouldn't harm the baby at all. About three weeks ago, we got to see the baby's heartbeat! It was so exciting.

I'm now 12 weeks along. Yesterday I couldn't do up the button on my pants for the first time. I don't look pregnant yet, but my belly just looks like I've been having some really big lunches. I'm really excited for it to turn into the 'bump'.

Of course, Russell has already equipped our baby to be a LSU fan. The day after we found out that we were pregnant, he bought the entire crib bedding set, along with the LSU mobile. We had to make a compromise -- if it's a girl, the bedding will have to wait in the closet until a boy comes along. But either way, we will keep the mobile out. It's really fun to see him so excited about everything.
