Coleman starts Pre-K

After going back and forth on this decision for several months, I decided to send Coleman to a specialized preschool for hearing impaired kids. It's 45 minutes away, and it kills me to send him so far when he's so little. I met with the staff though, and just feel like they have too much to offer him for us to not participate. During his first day today, his teacher let me come in with party hats and cupcakes for the kids since his birthday was just last week. He loved the attention! We will see what these next few months bring; hopefully his development will keep skyrocketing and he will be in a neighborhood preschool soon.

I'm an Aggie Now

The marketing department at USU's Distance Education department contacted me this summer about doing an ad campaign. They had been looking for people with unique circumstances in one of their programs, and heard about me from a friend. They came out and spent a few hours filming and taking pictures of me and the kids. They left and I thought that it was a complete waste of time for all of us... I was super nervous in front of the camera and I thought I sounded like an idiot during the interview. The kids were also knocking over lights, adding all sorts of unwanted sound effects, and doing exactly opposite of whatever they were asked to do. It was a total circus. I was shocked when they called me a few weeks later and told me that they had made a TV commercial and put a full page ad inside the front cover of the USU Alumni magazine. I was equally surprised when I walked into the testing center that night for my pediatric language disorders final, opened up the browser to take my test, and saw my face on the RCDE homepage. So weird, but it's been fun having people who I haven't talked to in forever call and say, "I saw you last night!"
