This year is the first year that Cade has cared about Halloween. He picked out his costume, we put out the decorations together, and all month he would ask me, "Mom, is it Halloween time?" He had a party at his preschool that was lots of fun, and a playgroup at church with all of our neighborhood friends. Coleman was a state trooper, and Cade was a fireman. The first time he wore his costume (for the preschool party), he refused to take it off all day. He told me where all of the "fires" were in our house, and was busy at work putting them all out for about two weeks prior to Halloween.
Today we carved a pumpkin and then met Russ at his work to show off the kids' cuteness and catch a lunch date with their dad. Coleman LOVED the pumpkin carving. Cade liked the finished product, but really didn't want anything to do with it during the process. We had a fun time at lunch; the boys always love to see their dad.
Tonight, we had a lot of fun trick-or-treating. It was very appropriate for Coleman to be a trooper, because he is probably the best "trooper" I have ever met. He rode in the wagon all night with a smile on his face, happy to be along for the ride. Cade loved seeing all of his friends. Whenever the doorbell would ring, he said, "Mom! More friends!". He didn't think that going to everyone else's doors was quite as exciting. He kept telling me that his bucket was full, and that he didn't want anymore candy. Both of the boys fell asleep almost as soon as their heads hit the pillows!
